Fuck Jay Leno. There, I said it.
This Is All Kinds Of Wrong of the Day: Long story short, blogger Rich “Fourfour” Juzwiak and comedienne Kate Spencer put together a supercut of Taylor Swift being surprised by her award show triumphs (despite winning everything she’s ever been nominated for) which went on to garner some 200,000 views. The Tonight Show with Jay Leno wanted to use it on the show and contacted Juzwiak to work it out. He was promised verbal credit, or, at the very least, written credit, by the show’s research coordinator, Sean O’Rourke.
Then this happened: During the interview with Taylor Swift, Jay Leno casually threw to a montage of Surprised Taylor Swift clips that he claimed the Tonight Show put together (see above). And that was that. No credit of any kind for Juzwiak or Spencer, despite the fact that it was a clear rip off of their original idea.
It is quite possible that Jay Leno and his producers assumed that since the median age for Tonight Show viewers is 56 they could get away with some Internet shoplifting and their audience would be none the wiser.
Juzwiak has e-mailed O’Rourke for an explanation and is presently awaiting a response.
